OWYHEE RIVER
Wildflowers and wildlife abound amid towering redrock canyon walls in the remote and beautiful High Desert Owyhee Canyons. The river runs through parts of Oregon, Nevada and Idaho before flowing into the Snake River above Hell’s Canyon. We run two different sections: the Upper Section is short and steep, 36 miles with numerous big rapids and a possible portage, previous whitewater experience preferred. The Lower Section is longer, 65 miles or so, with lots of nice floating and a few big rapids. Both sections have strange and beautiful rock formation and canyons. Both sections have Indian and Historical Sites. The Bureau of Land management, Vale, Oregon, assigns our launch dates.
