Rock climbing is an exciting adventure based activity that combines physical movement with problem solving and the development of trust and confidence.
Rock climbing does require the acquisition of safe technical skills.
Idaho Guide Service provides staff certified by the American Mountain Guides Association who have many years of experience.
Our instruction includes:
- equipment
- knots
- movement on rock
- belaying technique
- anchoring systems
- rappelling
- rescue systems
We have a variety of climbing areas in Southern Idaho and can provide instruction for a wide variety of groups. Many areas offer a wide variety of challenges that are perfect for all levels of ability.
We supply most or all of the equipment you will need to learn this Sport.

Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing Class
Family
Description: Come learn the basics of vertical climbing in a natural setting. We’ll focus on building solid fundamental skills, such as belaying, crack climbing technique and face climbing technique. If you have only climbed inside or you are looking to explore climbing for the first time, this is your opportunity to practice with professional rock climbing instructors. We provide harnesses, helmets and all the necessary gear for you to try out this fun and challenging sport! Families are welcome; under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Skills you’ll learn:
Learn how to belay climbers and catch a fall. Learn climbing communication signals. Learn basic technique to climb rock faces and cracks. Gain confidence in your ability to maneuver up a rock. Learn how to choose the right climbing partner and location.
Duration: 5 hours
Required Legal Form:
This course requires the participant to read and sign a liability release form before participating. Please see “Required Legal Form” for the session you are registering for. You will need to print, sign and bring the form to your class. Download Agreement
